Mock Pink Champagne

Mock pink champagne
and side 2:
Mock champagne side two

This is called "Mock" Pink Champagne because you are supposed to mock it for not having any actual champagne in it. "Ha ha! You're dry!"

I imagine my grandmother serving this at bridge club, or at the fellowship hall at the back of the Firestone Park Presbyterian Church for someone's birthday.

Orange Julius

Orange Julius

When I was growing up in Mechanicsburg, PA, the big retail excitement was the Capital City Mall. This was before the emergence of the ubiquitous food court, and there were only two places to get food: an Arby's and an Orange Julius.  I loved those Orange Juliuses -- they tasted just like liquid creamsicles.

Naturally, I was thrilled to find this recipe for homemade Orange Julius.  I haven't tried it yet so I don't know how close it comes to the chemical-laden commerical version.  Of course, now I look at this recipe and think, "I wonder how it would taste if you added vodka to it."

Here is what was on the reverse of the Orange Julius card:

I think my grandfather, John Griffith, must have drawn this. He was always sketching pictures of birds, flowers, and trees to mail to us in letters when we were little kids. He was really cool.
